Players are encouraged to keep playing rec ball and having fun with their friends. Loving the game comes first.
How we coach 8-year-olds.
At 8U, kids are in the most important skill-learning window of their athletic lives. Our job isn't to win Saturday — it's to build the movement, the fundamentals, and the love of the game that pays off for the next ten years. That's the launch point.
What we believe in
Reps build players. Practice is where the work happens; games are where we apply it.
No fixed positions at 8U. Every kid pitches, catches, plays infield and outfield, and hits in the order.
We coach the next rep, not the last one. Kids learn fastest when they're free to fail and adjust.
Run, jump, throw, balance, react. The ABCs of movement make every baseball skill easier.
What we won't do
Tournaments stay local to Northeast Ohio. No four-hour drives for an 8U Saturday.
A handful of games — not 60. Kids and parents get their weekends and their childhood back.
We encourage other sports and free play. Year-round single-sport burnout is real — we avoid it.
At 8U you cannot predict who's good at 14. Everybody develops. That's the whole point.
